About DomainNams

DomainNams is a free place to find an available domain name, look up who owns a taken one, and learn how to choose, buy and value names.

It's run by David Ray, a domain investor and web developer in Palm Harbor, Florida. The guides come from years of buying, selling and building on domain names: what actually matters, what to avoid, and how to avoid overpaying.

How the tools work

The domain search and WHOIS lookup run in your browser. They ask each ending's official registry directly using RDAP, the standard that replaced WHOIS, so results come from the source rather than a third-party database. Your searches aren't stored, and we never register names you look up.
